Advanced Techniques for Advancing Violinists

Dr. Gail Johansen

August 5th 9am-4pm


Dr. Gail Johansen will present at a one day violin teacher workshop on Sunday, August 6th from 9am-4pm. Topics are not yet finalized but may include:

  • Group Class for Advanced Groups

  • Supplemental and Scale literature

  • Transitioning Teens

  • Chamber music for Suzuki Students

  • Left hand techniques (vibrato/shifting/double-stops)

  • Right hand techniques

  • Parental involvement/various ages and levels; 

  • How to transition into Mozart Concertos

  • How to make the best of bad habits that students will not correct; 

  • How to improve reading for older students

Cello Book 4, SAA course

Dr. Tanya Carey

August 5th-9th


  • 15 hours of instruction

  • 8 hours of observation

  • Prerequisite: Cello Books 1, 2 and 3 Teacher Training

Dr. Tanya Carey will guide teachers through key topics that face teachers of both advanced and advancing students in book 4. She will share the students progression through key topics explored in books 4.​​

Violin Book 4, SAA course

  • 15 hours of instruction

  • 8 hours of observation

  • Prerequisite: Violin Books 1, 2 and 3 Teacher Training

​Judy will teach how to help violin students transition into musicians while learning their first concerto movements and higher level techniques necessary for proper development and musicianship.
