Concert Dress and Packing List:

Remember to bring your instrument :), music, music stand and rockstop (cello). It is helpful to have your name on everything. Final concert dress is white top, black bottom.  Honors recital performers may wear nice attire of their choice.  Please avoid jeans and tennis shoes for performances.   Keep in mind that students will be sitting down while performing, if students choose to wear a skirt it should reach the knees while sitting.  Linens are provided in the dorms.

Instrument Rental and Storage:

If you wish to rent a cello or other instrument, you may contact Kamimoto Strings.  Kamimoto will process the rental and bring the instrument to Stanford, Instruments can be picked up in the office during registration.  Room 105 will be locked each day Monday thru Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 for cellos to store their instruments during lunch. 


All students will receive an email in early July with their orchestra music and chamber music if they are registered for chamber music. Please check your spam folder.  If you do not receive the music please email

Student Concerts:

Honors Recitals: Mon-Wed at 11:00am

Chamber music concert: Thursday at 11:00am.

Final concert: Thursday at 5:00pm.  Concert attire is white top, black bottoms.

Special Dining Request:

For dormitory guests staying on campus or those who have purchased meal plans, Florence Moore, our dining hall, has a variety of choices including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.  For mild to moderate allergies to the 7 common food allergens, please see this information from Stanford regarding purple stickers available when you pick up meal passes. If your child has severe, life threatening allergies please complete this additional form and submit it directly to Stanford following the directions on the form.


Students who live nearby are able to commute for daily classes and concerts. Parking permits are available for $5 per day at the Institute Office on campus. A four pack of passes is available for purchase with your registration and will be put in your packet if purchased.

Please note that commuter students 11 years old and younger must have a parent/guardian with them on campus during the day every day of the Institute.


Meals plans are available for purchase during registration.  The conference meals are delicious and fit most culinary needs. Beyond the entrees, a wide variety of salads, breads, proteins, vegetables, drinks, and desserts are included.  Food allergies and dietary restrictions (such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and nut allergies) are accommodated and can be indicated on the registration form. 

Getting to Braun Music Center on the campus of Stanford University: 


The Advanced Suzuki Institute is held in Braun Music Center on the campus of Stanford University. Taxis, shuttles and Uber are available From San Francisco Airport or the San Jose International.  If you are using a GPS to navigate to Braun Music Center, please use Dinkelspiel Auditorium or 471 Lagunita Dr., Stanford, CA as you will need to pull into the Tressider parking lot to find the Braun Music Center.  Detailed directions from the Stanford website can be found here.

All parking lots require parking passes or paid meters. Parking is free on Sunday.  You may pay for parking by the hour or by the day.  You may purchase daily parking passes ahead of time during registration. You will need 4 daily passes for the institute at $5.00 each. Note that the parking pass is valid for specific lots only. If you need to purchase passes at the institute, please have cash or a check available.
